Frequently Asked Questions
Independent Contractor Relationship
An independent contractor (also known as 1099 contractor) provides services established in a contract that address both the contractor’s terms and preferences, and the company’s/client’s requirements. Unlike traditional employees, or W2 employees, independent contractors do not work regularly for an employer, but work on their own schedule and as required. That’s why independent contractors are responsible to pay their own taxes, versus having taxes withdrawn from a regular paycheck.
In the NexRep Marketplace, we use independent contractors to maximize flexibility for both the contractor and our client, while also providing a better work-life balance for the contractor. On average, most Marketplace contractors service between 20-30 hours per week, but ultimately, how much time you put in is up to you.
NexRep only contracts with people in the United States. Independent contractor status is governed by state laws and these laws vary substantially by state. At this time, NexRep chooses to only contract with independent contractors in certain states for business reasons.

Yes! If you’re travelling within the United States, you can still provide services if:
- You have access to a quiet, distraction-free workspace
- You have access to hard-wired, high-speed Internet
- You have access to your computer, dual monitors, and noise cancelling headset
If your contract with the NexRep Marketplace has lapsed, or if your prior Independent Contractor Agreement was terminated, you may be eligible to register after a six-month waiting period. However, if there was a breach of contract, meaning you did not satisfy the terms of your agreement, you would not be eligible for future opportunities.
Our clients determine the criteria required for an opportunity, and as you might expect, not everyone is a good fit for every opportunity. However, you’ll remain registered with the NexRep Marketplace, and if there’s a good match between your background and a future opportunity, we’ll have the information we need to reach out to you.
